Passing on the wonderful Tamil Language, Culture and Heritage to the kids was of paramount importance in his life from the time he relocated to Atlanta from Chennai in the year 1999. He associated himself with GATS and encouraged his kids to take active interest in the Cultural activities. In 2009, during FeTNA convention in Atlanta, he took part in the cultural activities and continued the volunteering work with interest and vigor. He has served in the Election Committee and encouraged new members to take active volunteering role in the Sangam. He was part of the GATS By-Law review committees and helped updating the same to meet the changing new needs of the Sangam.

John Amirtham is working as a Senior Manager at Fidelity Information Services, a successful Fin-tech company for the past 17 years.
When ATM was established to meet the demands of the Atlanta Tamil Community, with aspirations to establish a Tamil Maiyam which the local Atlanta Tamil Community can call a place of our own, he joined ATM BOD.
John Amirtham went to College of Engineering, Anna University, Guindy and did his M.Tech Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
John Amirtham served many years as a Faculty in SRM Engineering College and served as a Staff Coordinator, organizing various inter-collegiate Cultural Festivals for Students. He also worked in the industry side as a Plant Manager in Malladi Drugs, consulting and working alongside UNIDO, CLRI and TN Pollution control Board and contributed on establishing Pollution Control measures in Leather and Textile industry clusters in TN.
He is originally from Tirunelveli, but spent considerable period of his life in Chennai before coming to USA.
