Greetings from the Consulate General of India, Atlanta.

The Consulate regularly receives a large number of queries from members of the Indian diaspora regarding various OCI-related services, particularly concerning the distinction between Fresh OCI applications, OCI Re-issue, and OCI Passport Updation. It has been observed that many applicants inadvertently select an incorrect service category or submit incomplete documentation, which often results in delays in processing their applications.

In order to address these recurring issues and to provide clearer guidance to applicants, the Consulate has prepared a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) covering the different types of OCI applications and the procedures associated with each category. These FAQs aim to help applicants understand the correct service category, basic requirements, and the overall application process so that applications can be submitted correctly the first time.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in circulating the attached FAQs widely among the members of your association and the broader Indian diaspora within your network. Your support in disseminating this information will help reduce avoidable errors in applications and assist applicants in navigating the OCI process more smoothly.

While due diligence has been exercised in preparing these FAQs, they are intended only as a general informational guide. In case of any anomaly, discrepancy, or if individuals continue to have queries after reviewing the FAQs, they may write directly to the Consulate at oci.atlanta@mea.gov.in for clarification.

The Consulate values the continued support and cooperation of Indian community organizations in assisting the diaspora.
